Lindy Express 2016, Swing Dance & Solo Charleston Workshop Weekend in Cork

Cork’s annual Lindy Epxress event returns this February 12th, 13th & 14th to provide workshops in Lindy Hop, Solo / Charleston & Blues dance.

Lindy Express is designed to do is to give your enthusiasm a vehicle. You will learn different techniques to improve your dancing, both solo and partnered, helping you to move with what you hear and feel in the music, react more spontaneously and musically to live music. You’ll see how to communicate and share this with your partner.

This year we are introducing a Jazzicality class which Ksenia has developed with her talented Bass-Playing husband, David Duffy.

There are two standard levels available for signup, plus two additional solo levels. Find out more about the levels on the Lindy Express website.

Gaston Fernandez

Gastón “Gas” Fernández is a professional dancer and dance instructor, based in Madird, Spain. He specializes in vintage dance styles including Lindy Hop, Charleston, authentic jazz, Balboa, Blues and Tango. As a former gymnast he is known in the swing dance community for his powerful acrobatics and aerials, while his background in Tango gives his blues style drama and strength, grounded in a sensitive connection with his partner.
Gastón’s passion for Swing Dance has taken him around the world, teaching from New York to Melbourne, and he has taught in some of the best swing and blues camps in the world, like Herrang, Snowball, MSF, Lindy shock, Smokey feet, Berlin Blues Explosion, Noctourne Blues, and many more.

Ksenia Parkhatskaya

Graceful, eccentric, and full of character, Ksenia is one of the most interesting and versatile artists in the jazz and swing world today. She exploded onto the swing scene at Harlem 2011(Vilnius), in the solo jazz dance battle, and claiming many crowns since, but she has been in training as a professional ballroom dancer since 1996, as an actor, modern jazz dancer since 2005. She has a true mastery over different genres, underpinned by a singer’s understanding of musicality and an historian’s appreciation of authenticity.

Alba Menugal

Alba began Swing Dancing because the Swing Dance crowd were exactly the kind of people she was hoped to meet in a new city. Over time, she fell in love with dancing on dancefloors , but she got completely hooked on Jazz when it found a big space in her heart.. There was no way back from there! She loves all the different dance styles of the Swing Era: Lindy Hop, Blues, Balboa and Authentic Jazz, all of which she trains in and teaches regularly.
This new stage in her life has led to increasingly frequent invitations to teach internationally at numerous international events: Uppsala (Sweden), Stockholm, Barcelona, Paris, Toulouse, La Guiole, Valencia, Lisbon, Porto, New York (USA, Nocturne Blues), Melbourne (Australia) Last year she had the pleasure to teach lindy at Herrang Dance Camp 2014.
Her passion for dance has taken over her life and she can’t wait to share it with everyone!
